چکیده

This paper utilises the distinctive transient pulse feature of the Third-Order Cumulant Diagonal Slice (TOCDS) of ECG signals to detect the number of occurrences of fetal heart beats during each of the maternal cycles. The fetal ECG signal is a comparatively weak signal (less than 20 percent of the mother ECG) and often embedded in noise. The fetal heart rate (FHR) lies in the range from 1.3 Hz to 3.5 Hz and it is possible for the mother and some of the fetal ECG signals to be closely overlapping. The paper also addresses the problem of false alarm situations often arising in diagonalcumulant-slice recording during labour due to nonGaussian impulsive or transient noise types and shows some results obtained after Volterra noise whitening and interpolation of the neighbouring fetal TOCDS samples.

The Effects of Maternal Opium Abuse on Fetal Heart Rate using Non-Stress Test

Background: Opium is one of the most commonly abused opiates in developing countries including Iran. Considering the importance of maternal health on the newborn, we aimed to assess the effect of opium abuse on fetal heart rate (FHR) characteristics in a sample of pregnant women in Zahedan, Southeast Iran. Methods: This cross-sectional study was done on 100 pregnant women referring to Ali-Ibn-Ab...

The use of non-invasive fetal electrocardiography in diagnosing second-degree fetal atrioventricular block

BACKGROUND Complete atrioventricular block in fetuses is known to be mostly associated with autoimmune disease and can be irreversible if no steroids treatment is provided. Conventional methods used in clinical practice for diagnosing fetal arrhythmia are limited since they do not reflect the primary electrophysiological conduction processes that take place in the myocardium. The non-invasive f...

Various Techniques for Fetal ECG Signal Monitoring

The paper present a various techniques that enables the investigations of the fetal heart rate (FHR) fluctuations. Later, the common problems associated with these techniques are discussed with some solutions. A non-invasive technique is also proposed for fetal ECG monitoring. The proposed system will be designed to measure the fetal heart rate variability for the evaluation of autonomic nervou...

On the existence of autoregressive models for third-order cumulant matching

Parametric modeling of third-order cumulant sequences has assumed importance recently because of the applications of the bispectrum. Approaches have been developed for autoregressive modeling of random processes using third-order cumulants, and these are based on solving linear equations which a re necessary but not sufficient conditions for matching samples of the cumulant sequence of the mode...

Cumulant based identification approaches for nonminimum phase FIR systems

Recursive and least squares methods for identification of non-minimum-phase linear time-invariant (NMP-LTI) FIR systems are developed. The methods utilize the secondand third-order cumulants of the output of the FIR system whose input is an independent, identically distributed (i.i.d.) non-Gaussian process. Since knowledge of the system order is of utmost importance to many system identificatio...
